Remedial Storm

I shall persist.

Lightning flashes.
I twirl around in the rain,
Washing away the pain
Of those ancient gashes
You inflicted.

Thunder rumbles.
I fixate on its roar,
Forgetting all but the pour —
Your memory crumbles;
You melt away.

The storm rages.
Yet I feel the earth spinning,
And I sense the throb thinning.
Through the next stages,
I shall persist.
